As the 8th round of negotiations get started in Brussels for a new Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the CAW has produced and now posted a special CETA video presentation by Jim Stanford, shown below.
Jim’s presentation is titled Out of Equilibrium: The Impact of Canada-European Union Free Trade in the Real World. In it, he challenges the merits and methodology of government studies that suggest this deal will bring only good things to both Canada and the EU. He also contrasts the government’s Pollyanna view with results from his own independent research that show this deal will likely worsen Canada’s already lopsided trade imbalance with Europe and could kill 150,000 Canadian jobs.
It’s sure to be a useful education tool that folks are welcome to share and distribute. Our campaign efforts to halt these potentially damaging CETA talks are moving into high gear as talks move into their final stages.
